Jabra SP700 – Not really for the Wii but still AMAZING!!

Ok, this has nothing to do with the Wii or game cheats but this is absolutely the best bluetooth device I’ve ever owned. And believe me I’ve bought just about every ear peace  speaker device there is and all of them have been complete crap. Poor audio, crappy battery life and just too dang small and difficult to work.

Not to mention looking like a douche wearing it everywhere you go. Don’t be that guy!

This device is completely different. The audio quality is outstanding, battery life is unbelievably long and you just clip it to your visor for hands-free operation. I even use mine as a speakerphone in the house.

AND you can use it to play your calls or play your music from your phone over the radio! It the best FM transmitter I’ve ever used. It’s worth the price on this feature alone!

They are usually 80-100 bucks but I’ve found them at the link below for $47.32 while they last.

Supersonic Wii – Review

Looking for a great reason to finally add Homebrew to your Nintendo Wii.
Here it is!

Supersonic Wii is exactly that one great reason to finally take the plunge and add the Homebrew Channel to your Wii. There is already an amazing line-up of great games for Wii homebrew and with the addition of the Supersonic Wii Homebrew has been taken to a whole new level.

“Supersonic Wii is a music rhythm game where the player needs to hit buttons in sync with the music being played. Called “space button Guitar Hero” by some, you play one part of the song at a time (focus on one instrument at a time, for example drums) until you’ve played it enough to continue on and try another. The sound for each instrument track only plays if you are successful at playing the pattern.
Supersonic Wii is a game based upon the game play of the AmplituDS homebrew game for the Nintendo DS, in turn based on the game Amplitude for the PlayStation 2 by Harmonix (the creators of the Guitar Hero and Rock Band franchises).” – wiibrew.org

This video clip demonstrates Supersonic Wii game play.
Supersonic Wii
Supersonic Wii has tons of control scheme options from using the Wiimote alone, with the Nunchuk, or even using the Guitar Hero guitar. There are lots of levels and a good number of songs to choose from. Supersonic Wii is exactly the kinda of game many people have been waiting from to finally make Homebrew irresistible.

Wii Homebrew Review gives Supersonic Wii a solid definitely rating and a score of 10/10. To make things even better is the very real possibility of a future multi-player mode and the addition of some motion controls. If you don’t have Wii Homebrew Supersonic Wii is a great reason to get it now. If you want more info on Homebrew and/or need help installing Homebrew click here.

Wii Homebrew application for copying game saves on my wii to SD card?

Is there a homebrew application for my wii that I can use to backup games that use wi-fi? Nintendo blocks you from backing up game saves from games that use wi-fi like Animal crossing and SSBB. anyone know of an application I can use to copy game saves like those to backup?

WiiLander – Review

WiiLander comes with a very simple description, “Land your ship using Wiimote”, and equally simple graphics, but don`t let that foul you, the gameplay more than makes up for simplicity of the presentation. The object of WiiLander is to successfully land your little spacecraft in various places on the planet surface before you run out of fuel. Crashing your lander costs you fuel making it harder to complete your goal.

You control your lander by holding your Wiimote horizontally while tilting and twisting it. Tilting left or right steers your lander while twisting forward and backward controls your speed. Gravity also plays a role so you need to use just the right amount of power to land safely.

WiiLander is a challenge, to say the least, and it is worth the download. Wii Homebrew Review gives WiiLander a definitely rating (7 out of 10).

Ballion – Review

This remade for Wii version of an old Commodore 64 game still works just as good today as it did all those years ago. Ballion is a very simple game that resembles “Break-out” at first glance. There are blocks to destroy and a ball bouncing around, but there is one thing missing, the paddle. Where Ballion is unique is that here you control the ball itself, well sort of. The ball will travel in a straight line until you press left or right and steer it wherever you want it go.

This following video clip is a demonstration of Ballion game play.

Ballion
The levels in Ballion get progressively harder with the addition of such things as color-coded blocks, where your ball has to be the right color in order to destroy them, and even blocks that kill you. You get plenty of lives when the game starts so you will survive long enough to get frustrated until you simply quit.

Seriously though, Ballion is a good little game and it works well. Wii Homebrew Review gives Ballion a definitely rating and we suggest that you give it a fair try and judge for yourself. (7/10)

redsquare – review

31 seconds. less time then it will likely take you to read this review. just survive for 31 seconds or longer and you have done really well in redsquare. redsquare is a simple game with a simple concept and it is definitely worth the space on your sd card.

the object of the game is to use your wiimote to try and keep the red square safe from being touched by the blue squares and rectangles.

wii homebrew review redsquare

this game has great motion controls and is surprisingly addictive. it may not hold your attention for a long time but you might just find yourself coming back to it again and again just trying to beat your own highscore. if we could make a suggestion; a multi-player player mode (not simultaneously) where eash player takes a shot to see who is best could be alot of fun. it would be nice to be able to put your name on the high score list as well.

we highly suggest that you add redsquare to your homebrew channel. redsquare receives a definitely rating from wii homebrew review. (8/10)

(i made it to 33 seconds – yes!!)

Piero’s Wiicross – Review

This game is exactly why Wii Homebrew must exist. It is very well put together. The graphics, although simple, are sharp and fit the function of the game perfectly; the background music is good; the game concept, not original to the Wii i know, is excellent and very easily a satisfying way to spend a few hours. The only downside is that the control scheme that uses the Wiimotes ablity to actually point at the screen is actually hard to use. Thankfully you can adjust the control scheme to use the Wiimote like an old NES controller and it works great that way.

Wiicross – Review

The object of the game may take a little bit of getting used to for some people but when you get the hang of it it is really quite enjoyable. The idea is to discover the hidden picture by using the clues provided on the right side and top of the picture’s grid. Each number represents how many boxes in a row are filled-in in that row or column. If there is more than one number for that row or column than that tells you that there are more than one group of filled-in boxes in the row or column. For example if the numbers for a particular row are 5 and 3 than you know that row has two groups of filled-in boxes in it, one with 5 boxes and one with 3, and those two groups must have at least one blank box between them or else it would be one group of 8. Using the clues given on for both rows and columns you begin to fill things in until the picture is complete. You even have the option to get the game to help you start out each puzzle until you get used to it.

There are lots of puzzles to complete and each puzzle can be redone to try and solve them faster and without help.

This is a must have Wii homebrew game. Go to your homebrew browser and get it right now.

A very solid definitely for this one. (9/10)

Mahjongg Wii – Review

Mahjongg in its many different forms has been made and remade over and over again. Now you can play the classic tile matching game right on your TV screen. We have probably all seem and played Mahjongg on our computers but in case you haven’t here is the basic idea of the game.

You begin each game with a set of tiles which are all laid out in a complicated pattern. All you need to do is find the pairs of like tiles and select them which causes them to vanish and reveal the tiles that are underneath. The only real catch is that you can only select tiles that have at either one or both of their left or right sides free. Once you have cleared all the tiles the game is finished.

The Nintendo Wii Homebrew version of Mahjongg is everything that you would expect from the classic game and more. In Mahjongg Wii the system’s motion controls are utilized perfectly making the game very simple to use, you point with your Wiimote and click to select tiles. What makes Mahjongg Wii special is the brilliant two player mode. Adding a little bit of competition to a game that has been played as a form of solitaire for years is a surprisingly awesome improvement on the game. In the two player mode both players try and complete the same tile set at the same time. Scores are awarded for each match found and multipliers are awarded for each consecutive match that a player makes before the opposing player breaks their streak. To make it even more interesting is the added ability to steal tiles from your opponent. If a player selects a tile that their opponent had already selected the tile switches to that players color causing players to fight over tiles if they are both after the same pair.

Here is a video clip demonstrating Mahjongg Wii for the Homebrew Channel.
Mahjongg

Mahjongg Wii is a great single player game that makes an even better two player game. With multiple tile layouts already available and an excellent two player component Wii Homebrew Review is pleased to give Mahjongg Wii an enthusiastic DEFINITELY rating. There are plans to see addition tile sets added to the game as well and these will make the game even more appealing. (9/10)

scogger v.0.2 – review

the homebrew version of scogger shows a lot of potential. the object of this puzzle game is to get your little green frog to jump on all the lilypads making them sink. your frog has no limit on the distance he can jump but he can not jump diagonally and he can not go backwards. the puzzle is to figure out the one and only pattern that will allow you to get to all the lilypads without getting stuck.

scogger v.0.2 has 100 different levels and each game is comprised of 10 levels randomly select from the pool of 100. this random selection of levels adds a strange element to the game in that it is very likely you may experience harder levels ahead of easier ones so the game does not necessarily offer you progressively harder levels.

this video clip demonstrates the process of using the homebrew browser to download and install a game (in this case scogger v.0.2). the video also includes a short demo of scogger.
scogger

aside from the lack of a high score list the game is very tight and stands out as one of the better homebrew games to date. motion controls are not supported but that is probably just as well as the current control scheme is excellent. wii homebrew review gives scogger a definitely rating. this is one that belongs on all homebrew channels especially for people who like frogs or puzzle games (whichever). (9/10)

Wii Solitaire – Review

The Wii homebrew version of the card game Solitaire is exactly what you would expect it to be. This Wii game is excellent in that it accomplishes what it sets out to do. It provides you with a great way to waste time when a real deck of playing cards just can’t be found.

The use of the Wiimote to select cards and move them around, just like a computer mouse would do on the windows version of Solitaire, works perfectly. Something that we especially like about Wii Solitaire is the use of the Wiimote’s vibration feature as a form of force feedback to aid in controlling the cursor and being sure you have selected the card(s) you wanted. The motion controls and force feedback make this game feel very intuitive and natural. There are a number of Wii games, especially homebrew games, that could really benefit from this kind of focus on detail.

Solitaire

The game has two playing modes, Classic and Vegas style, with the main difference being that in Vegas style you only get one chance to go through your “draw pile” whereas in Classic mode you can go through the deck as many times as you like. Winning the game prompts a nice little animation of cards flying around and landing all over your screen.

Wii Solitaire is an excellent example of what a homebrew game can and should be. Most high-end developers wouldn’t spend their time and money on an app like this and most Wii owners, even if they love Solitaire, wouldn’t want to spend money on a solitaire game. That is exactly where homebrew comes in and saves the day. Wii Homebrew Review is happy to give Wii Solitaire a definitely rating. Go ahead put Wii Solitaire on your Homebrew Channel just in case your deck of cards ever goes missing. (9/10)
