DVD on Wii 3.4 – - Confirmed!

wiibrew.org recognizes that there is indeed a DVDx Installer that works under Wii system 3.4

It has now been confirmed that DVD playback is available through Homebrew for any Nintendo Wii with the October 23rd system update.
The Hombrew community had managed to unleash the Wii’s DVD drive for DVD playback prior to the 3.4 update. unfortunately the system update that Nintendo released on October 23rd, 2008 had made it impossible to install the DVDx Homebrew on any system that was updated. Wii Homebrew Review has discovered that there is a confirmed DVDx installer now available through the forums on http://www.wiibrew.org that works with system 3.4.
Wii Homebrew Review has not yet tested this new DVDx installer but we will be keeping close tabs on the progress of this app over the next little while and we will try to keep you up to date. As always Wii Homebrew Review is not recommending whether or not anyone should install Homebrew on their Nintendo Wii. We simply endeavor to provide Wii Homebrew information and reviews for entertainment purposes only.

For the record: those of us at Wii Homebrew Review will be testing the new DVDx installer on a Wii with system 3.4 just as soon as we feel that it is safe for our Wii and legal to do so.

Story Update:
The DVDx installer for Wii 3.4 has apparently been pulled from the forum in which it was posted. We are unable to determine why this happened. All we know is that the installer was being confirmed for Wii 3.4 and now it has disappeared, at least for the time being. Our hope is that it was not pulled due to legal issues but we don’t know at this time. Wii Homebrew Review will be following the developments of this story as new information unfolds.
