Wii Homebrews Next Frontier

Where do want to see Nintendo Wii Homebrew go from here?

So it’s early into the new year and we have high hopes for what may be accomplished in the world of Wii homebrew over the next 12 months. Here are just a few of the homebrew highlights that we would like to see in 2009.

Balance Board Dominance
Now that WiiBreaker has shown us that homebrewers are working on bringing the Balance Board into the world of homebrew we want more. Many current homebrew titles could be adapted to support the Balance Board. Redsquare, Cosmo Raketti, and Aspirin are just three titles that pop into my head right now that would great as Balance Board titles. Besides current titles being given Balance Board support we would love to see some made for Balance Board homebrew apps and a games this year.

Wii Speak
Nintendo’s Wii Speak microphone is a relatively new accessory but we hope homebrewers jump on this one. How about WiiSkype or finding ways to incorporate Wii Speak into some homebrew titles or better yet adding Wii Speak functions to games like Mario Kart or Super Smash Bros.

Multiplayer Online
We are counting on our friendly neighbourhood homebrewers to give us some great online play experiences this year. I’m thinking Jump n’ Bump Online Edition – nice!!

A Real Internet Browser
I know there are alot of Opera fans out there, but I would love see homebrew bring us a useful Internet Browser this year. Firefox would be amazing but I’d settle for Google’s Chrome. Oh and while your at it how about getting some good plug-ins working. We would love to get Megavideo working on the Wii.
